Need for research
We have worked with multiple fragrance houses, helping them find a winning fragrance in different categories viz. Soap, shampoo, facewash, detergent, room fresheners, toilet cleaner, fine fragrances, agarbathi, essential oils

Methodology employed
We have the expertise to handle any type of fragrance studies. Fragrance studies are usually conducted through a face to face structured interview at a central location, this increases the control of how we expose the stimulus to our respondents and how we capture the data.
It is recommended to expose 4 5 fragrances in a sequential monadic route to a single respondent, in case there are multiple samples, we follow a balanced block design to distribute the prototype across respondents so that each prototype gets equal exposure. Prototypes are usually rotated to remove order bias.
From approval of the questionnaire, fieldwork, data analysis and reporting. We complete these types of projects within 10 days
Actionable findings
Most fragrance studies are done to find a winner against a benchmark. The Benchmark is either the market leader or the current product offering.
We recommend a winning fragrance only if it is significantly higher than the benchmark product at 95% confidence level.
We also check for strength of the fragrance and map the intrinsic and extrinsic attributes of a product.
Impact:
Many products in the market have fragrances recommended after going through Elastic Tree’s validation process to find a winner. And many have also failed to beat the benchmark.
